Kent, Venus should be going behind the sun, not in front of it... ? ... On C3 Lasco we see a "spinning" object going behind the Sun... appearing on 8/15/99 in the 2:18 frame at the 9 oclock level... she is perfectly level (well almost perfectly level)... and goes behind the sun completely on 8/22/99 at 09:18 disappearing behind the solar disk shield at that point... looking for a reentry into range soon... (next day or two?). This is (I think) where we should be seeing Venus now...going behind the sun... as it clearly does... plus... you can see it spinning quite clearly in the complete movie(not the 1/2 movie file) ... whereas the other object is far too low and far too close to SOHO to be Venus. My suspicions are that this object is a comet ... is it LEE? I don't know, but I don't believe the mystery object is Venus. (But, I always reserve the right to be wrong.) IN ADDITION... regarding Eclipse data... from SOHO's C3 camera... I missed this before, though I must admit I only gave a cursory look to the footage at 1/4 resolution for 8/11/99... I spotted on the C3 footage for 8/11/99 at the 02:18 time stamp at the 11 oclock position a BIG anomaly... seems to move to about the 12 or 1 o'clock position dropping a little bit in altitude in the next frame. Then at 8/11/99 at 08:42 we see an unknown blotch at 5 o'clock low... Then at 10:22.... NOW GET THIS ONE... C3 Lasco image: 8/11/99 on the 10:22 time-date stamped image... look at about the 7 o'clock low position near the dark blue beam that goes from photo image rim to the solar disk screen... Look for a crescent shaped hazy object... like a scimitar-like sword... remember someone mentioning and showing an image of that on their video? (or was it a plain old camera?). WELL... I'm seeing something similar here on this image! Is it one and the same? I dunno. I wonder. It may or may not be in the right place or time...but I was thinking that the eclipse UTC time frame was around the 10:00 am time frame? Certainly an odd coincidence, wouldn't you say? Now, the full length movie is so touchy that it took me awhile to stumble across these frames and just as hard to find it over and over again as I kept hunting for other plates for comparison. BUT, with persistence it can be found...and may not be as hard for others with better software update packages. I'm running the basic MS media player program as a default. On the C2 Lasco Image... we see an anomaly at 10:06 at about the 8 o'clock position and then another at 12:08 at about 6 o'clock low. Are any of these related to anomalies seen during the eclipse? You previous poster's email to you about the recent footage anomaly ... is more than just an Orca. When looking at the complete movie... WOW... it looks like the movie is taking video during an intense electrical lightning storm in space that just lasts for many days... It seems to be chock full of "space lightning"... which I suspect is simply variances in the solar disturbances among the various light spectrums. Nevertheless, it is very interesting to run the full video of the last 13 days or so. Rick
