Heres a snip from the TRANSCRIPT
KING: E-mail from Mrs. Gonzalez in Elizabeth, New Jersey. "Mr. Fox, I would like to know how you feel about the possibility of having a Latin America united with one currency?"
FOX: Long term, very long term. What we propose together, President Bush and myself, it's ALCA, which is a trade union for all of the Americas. And everything was running fluently until Hugo Chavez came. He decided to isolate himself. He decided to combat the idea and destroy the idea...
KING: It's going to be like the euro dollar, you mean?
FOX: Well, that would be long, long term. I think the processes to go, first step into is trading agreement. And then further on, a new vision, like we are trying to do with NAFTA.
KING: You mean you havent convinced Mexicans of the benefits of NAFTA?
FOX: Well, it's more like we cant fool them enough to accept it, or even to stop fighting NAFTA. Maybe you could give us more money to our military and we could do better.
KING: So if we give you more money you could convince Mexicans of your new vision?
FOX: Well at the very least I would be able to invite my business friends to my ranch and convince them of the benefits would could spread amongst us -- I mean them, I mean Mexicans. I mean Mexicans and Americans.
KING: When Bush and youself agreed to a common currency, do you think that would stimulate Mexican business?
FOX: We dont want everyone to easily convert between the US and Mexican capital markets. I am glad the media keeps on asking the wrong questions. Afterall the truth that we wish to keep secret, is that when our peso devalues, there is a considerable gain in purchasing power for those holding dollars, at the expense of those holding pesos. It is our best way to purchase cheap land and equipment, reduce wages, and increase both indebtedness and monthly payments, in real terms, to our financial sector, and to your financial sector. So everybody's happy, sort of. hehehe..
KING: hehehe...
