Subj: IEC assessment of anomaly 502

Hi Kent, I followed the "502" link and try to catch something along the line of "IEC assessment"
I don't think that "IEC" as mentioned in the pics is a company, probably it's more like a procedure.

"The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is the international organisation responsible for Standardisation in
the electrical and electronic fields."
So it says on http://www.iica.org.au/journal/124/haz1.htm

But to make sense, it wil have to be
"assessment after iec standard #...", except in cases where everyone involved knows which test is meant.

So, an IEC assessment probably is

a) an assessment along the guidelines of the Interntional Electrotechnical Commission
b) an assessment of anything other that is abbreviated IEC, which could be a lot.
e.g.:
http://gas.mailbox.co.uk/conferences/SCATA/Meeting%20Abstracts/1999/%2333374.15/influenceofdocu
mentation.html

"The German Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine evaluates the standardized
reporting of perioperative anaesthesia related incidents, events, and complications (IEC)."

more interesting for our behalf maybe:
IEC= Information Education.
compare:
http://www.idrc.ca/books/focus/832/chap3.html

"Obeng-Quaidoo Isaar and Gikonyo Waithira (1995) Population communication and sustainable Development: An
Analysis of Population Information Education (IEC) Projects in Anglophone Africa. Media review; Vol 9: No. 1. African
Council for Communication Education (ACCE), Nairobi, Kenya.
(Nturubi, UNICEF-Uganda, Dupree, Kenya Youth IEC assessment).

Table 1: Analysis of IEC activities directed at adolescents in the target countries: evaluation of needs
assessment and target audience segmentation."

In this case it was about AIDS education, but it could easily applied to any other case that needs spreading
the word. Maybe even with a smile of those who want us to know without exposing themselves.
