The "red" color is typical for TNOs [TNO=Trans-Neptune Object (or objects passed Neptune)] and only somewhat more red than the Sun. The source data were published on IAUC 7657: http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iauc/07600/07657.html The colors are: B-V = 0.95 +/- 0.15, V-R = 0.5 +/- 0.1, and V-I = 1.0 +/- 0.1.

The research suggests that, every 26m years, the star's eccentric orbit brings it within one light year of the solar system. There it causes havoc in the Oort Cloud, a huge region surrounding the solar system...

Kent: It's supposedly too dark and distant yet to pick-up with amateur gear or without an infrared detector, but those who have access to such equipment might want to turn their scopes on the following area, now that it's nearing ascension, to see if they can find anything anomalous.

I became aware of a fire ball last night coming at us from what I call deep space. The last time I looked ,it appeared as if it would not hit us, but would be a pretty close fly-by. It appears I was correct in my thinking. This fire ball looked to me like it was a piece of a comet {by comparing frequencies} and was probably one-fourth the size of our planet!! What is the reason we are not told by the people who watch for these things before they come this close?? Obviously, by looking at the size of this fireball, it was still quite a long ways from us, but too close for comfort nevertheless!! This is not the first time we have gotten this close to being hit, but most of the "rocks" are dark and I only become aware of them because I can sense the movement. Stay safe!!
Special about asteroid 2001 PM9 2 Talk about a NEAr miss! If this many people can't decide on something like this. We could be in a world of hurt!
