Opposite of hydrogen fusion, the ultimate evaproration of the metal, in the form of heat could last as long as a hot body in the insulation of space, plus a magnetic field would arise as the metallic form is a higher than room temp. superconductor.

The surrounding earh would be friction to this concept causing these magnetic fields and other disturbances such as vulcanism and earth tremors according to the density of the planet, gaseous planets having the least resistance.

Also in my opinion hydrogen metal would be the best material to form the hull of a universal flying object to transverse light-years of conventional 3-D distance.

CLARIFICATION: it has been explained in email below that some of the quakes above, although generally over historical sites, might in fact be not be separate events:

EMAIL, 10/10/99 10:44:07 AM Pacific Daylight Time: I have to write you to let you know you are multiple listing single EQ in your list of quakes occuring near/around historical locations.... you are listing quakes from the "Red Puma' site that shows ALL seismic recordings. So, one quake will register and then that quakes resonance will be listed at other sites nearby. You are listing them as seperate events, when in fact it is ONE quake. Expample is the UK quake which you show as a quake in UK (correct) and then 2 seconds later another quake in France. The best way to know if a quake is singular or not is to check the time sequence. Quakes happen a few seconds later and nearby are just echos of the true quake.

EDITOR'S REPLY: I still feel the historical-center-coincidences need looking at, because like the quakes themselves, the ancient sites seem somewhat sprawled over wider territories, so we might yet have interesting correlations. It has always interested me how man builds conclaves over seismically active zones. Why, I wonder? Orbit is more like a laboratory involving both science and intuition (not in my opinion, exclusive methodologies). Certainly ORBIT does not claim a format to quickly achieve conclusions.

The camera was not oriented correctly to obtain images of the asteroid close up. However, the orbital parameters of the asteroid determined during the cruise phase has indicated that the asteroid will probably enter an Earth orbit and soon burn out in the atmosphere in a few thousand years."

I have been unable to find another reference to this interesting news so treat it with caution, particularly the mention of "Earth orbit". Also this is a 2 by 1 km object so I don't think "burn out in the atmosphere" is the appropriate term to use!
