“TOYNBEE” NOTES ON THE PAVEMENT

(“Resurrect the Dead on Planet Jupiter”)

J.C. Goliathan

This report is an analysis (and possible solution) to the cryptic messages left on the pavement of many different cities in the U.S. in the 1990’s.  This main message was left on the pavement in several cities in Northeast.

TOYNBEE IDEA

IN KUBRICK'S 2001

RESURRECT DEAD

ON PLANET JUPITER

Here is the link to the message: http://www.toynbee.net/gallery/Philadelphia  and below is my translation from the longer message left in Philadelphia in 1998.  My comments are in brackets and the spaces indicate that the letters cannot be seen clearly:

“TOYNBEE IDEA IN KUBRICK'S 2001 RESURRECT DEAD ON PLANET JUPITER    John Knight, owner of the Philadelphia Inquirer [and 31 other major newspapers], Hellion Jew whose hates this movement's guts - for years takes money from the Mafia to make the Mafia look good in his newspapers so he has the Mafia in his inner pocket.  John Knight sent the Mafia to murder me in May 1991.  ----- every journalist --l of them gloats to my face about my death and Knight-Ridder's great power to destroy.  In fact, John Knight went into Hellion binge of joy over Knight-Ridder's great power to destroy. I secured house with blast doors and fled the country in June, 1991.  NBC attorneys, journalists, and security officials at Rockefeller Center ----- fraudulently ----- the "Freedom of Information Act" all orders of NBC executives got the U.S. Federal ----------- office and got the FBI to get Interpol to establish task force that located me in Dover, England.  When Salon Home Inquirer got union goons from their own employees union to send down a "sports journalist" who with baseball bat bashed in lights and windows of neighborhood as well as men outside my house.  They are stationed there still waiting for me.  NBC, CBS, Group Westinghouse, Time, Time-Warner, Fox, Universal, all "Cult of the Hellion" each one were much worse than Knight-Ridder ever was (mostly Hellion Jews). When K.Y.W.[local Philly TV station] and NBC executives told John Knight, the whole coven gloated in joyous fits on how their Soviet pals found a way to turn it into a…” [end]

The tiles often include equally puzzling footnotes. One in Newark, N.J. commands the reader, "Submit. Obey." In Cleveland, one states, "Thanks. Goodbye." In New York, you´ll find: "Murder every journalist, I beg you." The tile at Sixth and Walnut in Cincinnati has a footnote that´s barely discernable: "You Must Make + Glue Tiles!! You!! As Media U.S.S.R."

The following two excerpts were taken from: http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Zone/3790/geobook.html  and are possible interpretations of what the tiles mean.

“These signs are all over Midtown Manhattan and have been here for years. Some of them word the message slightly differently, for instance, they say, "Kubrick's 2001" instead of "movie 2001." If the meaning were related to the story, "The Toynbee Convector," this would suggest that the person behind these signs feels that "2001" is an optimistic version of the future. Therefore, it seems more likely that this person refers to the historian. Why not stencil a question for this person, such as "which Toynbee?" or "we need more information."      Tie Bowle - 05/28/99 20:41:42

“ES Grey writes... > Pasted from The Baltimore Sun's "Sunspot" website at > http://www.sunspot.net > Originally in printed newspaper on January 2 1998. > Officially falls into the WTF? File... > > The sign in question reads: > "Toynbee idea in movie 2001--Resurrect dead on planet Jupiter" My idea on what the sign means... [Somewhere, the "X-Files" theme begins to play...] I never heard of that Toynbee guy. The only Toynbee I know of was mentioned in [insert name of a famous SF author who I can't remember at the moment]'s short story, "The Toynbee Convector." An overview: a [mad] scientist builds a time machine (the Toynbee convector) and goes to a distant date in the future, coming back with fantastic footage of what awaits humanity. People go, "WTF?" and realize that there's hope for the human race after all. When humanity reaches the date which the scientist traveled to, an intrepid reporter finds out... That it was all a lie. The scientist had built a model in his basement and filmed it. The Toynbee convector wasn't even a real time machine. Why'd he do it? To ignite hope for the future. Hey, it worked... Thus, a prophecy fulfills itself. [cue "Also Sprach Zarathustra" (wonder if I spelled that right?)] "2001", like many favorite SF stories, is a prophecy about what could happen. One could consider it a Toynbee convector of sorts. But since it's just an idea, instead of an actual machine, it could be a "Toynbee idea." (Pity the U.S. space program had to go through the 1980's--it could have made so much more progress. But that's a different story.) As for "Resurrect dead on planet Jupiter"? Perhaps this refers to the life on Europa? (Seriously, folks. But the lion's share of the Europa stuff happens in "2010", the next story. Speaking of which, "2001" was originally set around Saturn, until Kubrick came along... But that's yet another story...) Oh, well. At the least, the sign's an interesting mystery... Any other ideas?” .....   No. 6 - 02/04/98 14:09:37

I tend to lean towards the interpretation above thatTOYNBEE IDEA”, rather than referring to the historian, refers to the “Toynbee Convector” which was a device in an old sci-fi movie by the same name that was said to allow time travel.  The creator of the device claimed to have brought back pictures of the future of the earth that were very optimistic and encouraging.  Many people believed the story of the time machine and authenticity of the pictures, and were inspired.  This resulted in a new renaissance on earth which was the real intent of the creator of the “Toynbee Convector”.  Later, it was revealed that the convector was a fake, but at that point it did not matter because the renaissance had already come to pass.  When the message refers to “TOYNBEE IDEA”, I believe this is what is meant.  The idea is to make people believe that the future is bright and that there is hope and as a result inspire a new age of enlightenment.  This is further enforced by the fact that Kubrick was a very avid supporter and fan of “The Schiller Institute” and its mouthpiece “FIDELIO” magazine.  The Schiller Institute’s vision can be summed up by this:

“No matter how bad things look on earth, humans can overcome the obstacles and make his world a better place to live through knowledge and technology, but only if man is allowed freedom of thought and research.”

The Schiller Institute takes its name from the 18th century German poet.

Knight-Ridder (Knight Foundation) is the organization that now owns 32 major newspapers in the US.  I cannot find much information on the phrase “Hellion Jew”.  The word hellion can be defined as “those with bad intent”.  Evidently, the person who wrote this believes his life is in danger and that a Jewish faction with bad intent and tied to the mafia is trying to stop the enlightenment movement of a second Jewish faction with good intent.  He believes that the first “bad group” is using the media to stifle the renaissance movement.

Regarding Jupiter and “Resurrecting the Dead”

Rho LEO is known as the Lion’s Paw of Leo in the LEO constellation.  Both Galileo (at Jupiter) and Cassini (at Saturn) will end there missions at this point in the sky, Rho Leo, by plunging into their respective planets (Galileo already has).  The Lion’s Paw is significant in Freemasonry in that it signifies “resurrection from the dead”.   Could there be a connection with Kubrick’s and A.C. Clarke’s “Lucifer Project” (trying to ignite a gaseous giant in our solar system into a star) and this movement of “resurrecting earth from the dead, to enlightenment” or moving man to the next level of existence and knowledge, which is the essence of the message of Kubrick’s “2001” and “2010”?!
