magma movement at Yellowstone Caldera...?...
more harmonic tremors...from three stations...
time...0511-0525 MST
date...12/20/2000
frequency...approximately...2-1/2 cycles per minute...or...0.0417 Hertz
strongest indication from Norris Junction Station...and...weakest from
Joseph Coat Station...
but...this may be an instrumentation artifact...hard to know if calibration
is to some common standard and each instrument has the same sensitivity...
for an example of saturated sensitivity...look at Madison River Station...

the recent earthquakes near Burney...
4.6 2000/12/20 15:39:14 40.989N 121.697W 19.3 12 km ( 7 mi) N of
Burney, CA
4.3 2000/12/20 15:22:54 40.990N 121.698W 11.2 12 km ( 8 mi) NNW of
Burney, CA
are occurring in part of a right-lateral strike slip zone of faults known as the Walker Lane Belt... they have a seismic signature typical of tectonic-type earthquakes...and...it is HIGHLY UNLIKELY that these earthquakes are volcanic in nature... the only places where you are likely to see long-period (LP)...non-double-couple earthquakes...harmonic tremors...associated with underground magma movement are...in Long Valley Caldera (LVC)...in Yellowstone Caldera (YC)...etcetera... or...DIRECTLY UNDER the stratovolcanoes...Ranier...Hood...Shasta...etcetera... as previously reported...
the Walker Lane Belt (WLB) is probably the southern exit zone for induced Basin & Range shear...via the Tahoe-Almanor Graben (THAG)...to the co-linear Blanco Fracture Zone (BLFZ)...
the following are right-lateral strike-slip co-linear tectonic-type earthquakes that have occurred in the last year within the northwest to southeast trending WLB...
