Delta Flight Makes Emergency Landing, FAA Reports
The Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) - A Delta flight from LaGuardia Airport to
Atlanta was forced to make an emergency landing Monday at
nearby Kennedy Airport after the pilot reported electrical
problems and fumes in the cockpit, the Federal Aviation
Administration said.
Delta Flight 1281 landed without incident at Kennedy shortly
before 10 a.m., the FAA said.
Delta spokeswoman Peggy Estes said the captain of the Boeing
757, which carried 163 passengers, noticed a smoky smell
shortly after takeoff and made the decision to land
immediately as a safety precaution.
There were no injuries, Estes said.
