Subj: This Mornings solar STARGATE

Kent: When last night I forwarded to you the Solar STARGATE image from 04:16 UT 11/26/01, something about the image bothered me a great deal.
After reviewing it again I realized that the strange artifact on the image reminded me of a sword blade.
Beginning in the 18th century, sword makers began to scallop the center of the blades to reduce the metal in running down the center of the blade, in order to make them lighter and easier to wield.
This was particularly true of 19th century edged weapons, most notably naval cutlasses and cavalry sabers; but also true of formal European non curved bladed weapons.
