It appears a rather massive event took place beneath the Pacific
Northwest
on Feb 23rd around 7:00pm. The seismic activity at Mts. Baker,
Glacier
Peak, Three Meadows, St. Helen's South Ridge, Rainier - Camp Sherman and
The Husband all increased significantly for approximately a two - three
hour period.
Was this event triggered by the earlier earthquake along the Mexico /
California border, was there a large upwelling of molten material from the
mantle or was there a strong surge along the tectonic plates?
Determining
the correct answer may help us to predict more serious future events.
