|ORBIT [3/3/08] is slow because I'm going through
a health crises right now-- having a really hard time breathing
As a result I am now a victim of the American Medical Non-care Corps. Been a long time since I've brushed with the bloody system. Frankly I am shocked. My new doctor ordered a routine cardiac stress test at the local Valley Medical Hospital. Because of my type of insurance I dared to ask the cost. Reply $10,000 mostly facility cost. For a freaking treadmill test! My share beyond coverage horrendous. I did find a slightly better deal by scrounging. It is really really scary not being able to breathe. They got me.
ADDED: Thanks for your comments, suggestions and help. I have been doing applications of herbs and natural healing, but so far nothing seems to fix the breathing problem. Trouble is I'm not sure what is causing it all, lungs, heart, infection [Congestive Heart Failure]? Therefore I will go to the lab stress tests Wednesday morning at Seattle Swedish Hospital [Seattle Heart Clinic] where the cost is much better. I'll let you know what I find out as well as open up here some of your comments which might be of benefit to others.
ADDED: Went to the Seattle Cardiovascular Center for tests. Tomorrow have to go see affiliated heart Doc. Hope he ain't heartless.
ADDED: I'm now a bonafide heart patient. Not all bad as my Specialist Doc remindes me of Master Yoda! I'll see what happens next. Might have to do some inpatient time next week.
UPDATE [3/17/08]: Just spent a week in Providence [Swedish] Hospital Cardiac Unit to ongoing treat Congestive heart failure. Basically about 40 lbs of water was removed from my body. Good news I can now breathe. Bad news I still have a Tweety-bird heart. Anyway back for now ready to rumble.

THE FOUNDRY: Oh, man! As if Hillary were not scary enough, now it turns out that someone has written a book about the dark doings at The Foundry . . . . or, "Skull & Bones, the Religious Version." Why is it that only whackos run for president any more? The Foundry is, incidentally, Senator Clinton's old church. Is It Hillary's Turn to 'Denounce and Reject' a Problematic Pastor?
Strategic Assets As Congress gets an update next week on the Iraq war, lawmakers are personally invested in companies reaping billions of dollars from defense contracts. Blackwater contract in Iraq renewed for one year

One of three things motivated Maliki in not informing the coalition before attacking Basra:
1. He thinks that there is an intelligence link in the coalition which would blow the operation (not likely and the probability of a leak in his own government is far more likely).
2. He thinks that the coalition would not approve of the operation as being an internecine quarrel with his political rivals, so he just committed his forces on the (apparently correct) assessment that the coalition would be obliged to back his play to bolster the notion that the Iraqi government is taking on military responsibility; i.e., they cannot afford to let it fail, regardless of what they would have done if they'd had a say in its initiation.
3. He just overlooked doing so (not likely) or wants to demonstrate his independence from the coalition (somewhat more likely).
In any case, we're moving to support his move now that it's in trouble. Bad for us, as usual.

COMMAND CENTER ARCHIVES 911 was a grand coup. In a minor coup, some General takes over the government of a single country. In a Grand Coup the entire world order is transformed. The whole Enlightenment heritage has been abandoned: constitutional government, civil liberties, balance of powers, government accountability. International law has been abandoned, and national sovereignty is becoming a subject for nostalgia buffs.
Pelosi firm on not allowing superdelegates to tip race Nancy Pelosi, who has proven to be gutless and useless as Speaker of the House, nevertheless finally rose to the occasion and resisted the ham-fisted efforts of Hillary's big money backers to blackmail Pelosi into retracting her statement that the superdelegates should not vote contrary to the popular vote in the Democratic primaries. I expected her not to give in on this one, but she's disappointed before.

"Success" of US Surge in Iraq About to Unravel? McCain Says US Succeeding in Iraq The Associated Press reports: "Fresh off his eighth Iraq visit, Sen. John McCain declared Monday that 'we are succeeding' and said he wouldn't change course - even as the US death toll rose to 4,000 and the war entered its sixth year."
Bush says Iraq war was worth it: President Bush says he has no doubts about launching the unpopular war in Iraq despite the "high cost in lives and treasure," arguing that retreat now would embolden Iran and provide al-Qaida with money for weapons of mass destruction to attack the United States.

Red hair may be the legacy of Neanderthal man. Oxford University scientists think the ginger gene, which is responsible for red hair, fair skin and freckles, could be up to 100,000 years old. They say their discovery points to the gene having originated in Neanderthal man, who lived in Europe for 260,000 years before the ancestors of modern man arrived from Africa about 40,000 years ago.

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies." ~Thomas Jefferson
Treasury Dept. Plan Would Give Fed Wide New Power 2 This is certainly bad news for the rest of us. The Fed should be abolished, not given new power. It's important to remember that the Fed is NOT a government agency, subject to public review and control; it is privately owned and controlled by the very people who profit from the kind of crises that we are experiencing right now. This proposal invites the fox to manage the hen house. This is yet another step in institutionalizing the neo-fascism decried by Naomi Wolf.
Rebuilding the American Economy, Bush-Style So what exactly has the Bush administration proven itself good at? The twin skills of destruction and looting would stand at the top of any list. Perhaps that's because it chose to put its "eggs" in only two baskets - those of the U.S. military and crony corporations.

Covert Nationalization of the Banking System We had warned a couple of months ago that a colleague with serious connections into the Treasury and Fed told us they were working on plans for a quasi-nationalization of the banking system. Their view was that while banks would technically be solvent, they'd have enough bad credits that they would be unable to extend new loans.
